It’s important to note that while you have a declined payment for a creator, you will not have access to their patron-only content until you resolve that payment.
Why did my payment decline?
We don't receive much information from credit card companies or PayPal as to why credit cards or Paypal accounts decline.
The most common reasons are expired payment information, mis-entered payment details, insufficient funds, or in some cases, the issuing bank has blocked the charge. You'll want to reach out to your bank or PayPal directly to make sure everything is accurate and nothing is blocking the charge.
Will you retry my payment?
We automatically retry declined pledge payments, so if your payment method is in good standing, you will receive another email notifying you of a successful charge within a day or two. If you'd like to speed up the process, you also have the option of clicking retry from your once you update your payment details.
Expired payment information?
If your credit card has expired, and your payment has declined, there are a couple of things you’ll want to do to ensure that your creator receives your payments.
Step 1: Update your payment method– you can do this any time while logged in to your account. Hover over the icon in the upper right of the page and select from the menu.
Step 2: From the left settings menu that appears, click on .
Important: Do not delete an existing payment method if you have pledges tied to that method– deleting the payment method before adding a new one and transferring your pledges will delete those pledges. If this happens, you will need to re-pledge to the creator after retrying your payment.
Step 3: Click add card or add PayPal to add a new your preferred payment method.
Step 4: Transfer any existing pledges from your previous payment method to your new payment method. Once you’ve done this, you can click the gray delete button to get rid of that expired information.
Step 5: After updating your payment method information, head on over to page and select from the upper menu.
Step 6: Click the orange retry button to the right of your failed payment.
Once you’ve resolved your declined payment with the creator, you’ll once again have access to their patron-only content.
