To make a post as a creator on Patreon, you will need to log in to your account.
Step 1: Navigate to the far left of the page and click on Post:
Step 2: From there you will be given the option to select from a variety of different types of posts:
Note: When making either an audio, video, image or link post, you will need to be sure to add either a link to your content or add the file itself. if you do not do this, it will not allow you to publish the post. Below shows where you would need to add either a link or upload the file.
Step 3: You can attach a file to the post as a way of adding additional content for your patrons to download. This option will only give patrons the option to download something and will not offer a preview of the content. If you would like to add images inline with your post text, you can check out this article.
To attach a file, you will want to click on the little paper clip at the bottom of the post page (each post type allows attachments to be added):
Step 4: Add a title! You will need to add a title to the post as well as any body text you so desire prior to being able to publish a post. If you do not have a title, you will not be allowed to publish the post.
Step 5: Upon completion, you will want to then either publish the post, save it as a draft, or schedule it to automatically publish on a future date:
Note: If you are on a per creation page setup, refer to this article for publishing a paid post.
Step 6: Before completion of the post, you will want to select who you want to have access to it. Scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on public. If the drop down menu is below the edge of the screen, just use your trackpad or scroll bar to slide the screen down:
Here is a break down of what each one means:
- Public: Means that anyone and everyone can view the post.
- Patron Only: Means that only people who are currently pledging to you can view the post.
- $ amount or more: Means that only patrons who are currently pledging to you at that dollar amount and up can view the post.
